Lawrence police investigating report of armed robbery at Cirilla’s adult store on 23rd Street

Lawrence police are investigating a report of an armed robbery at Cirilla’s Thursday afternoon.

Kim Murphree, a police spokeswoman, said officers were called about 3:15 p.m. to the store, 1206 W. 23rd St., about a panic alarm.

When they arrived, a female employee said a man with a handgun and a woman who did not display a weapon entered the store.

“The man demanded cash. The woman grabbed merchandise,” Murphree said. “Both fled the scene in a passenger car.”

Police have not released how much cash was taken.

The employee was not injured, and no other customers were in the store at the time. The store is at the corner of 23rd Street and Naismith Drive.

Murphree said officers were investigating the case and not releasing further information Thursday afternoon.
