LifeStar air ambulance called to one-vehicle injury accident north of Vinland

January 21, 2012, 3:19 a.m. Updated January 21, 2012, 10:52 a.m.

A 30-year-old Baldwin City man was injured early Saturday morning after he was involved in a one-vehicle rollover accident between Lawrence and Baldwin City.

At about 2:50 a.m., Ryan David Forker was driving southbound on the 800 block of 1650 Road, when his vehicle crossed the center line, became airborne, and hit some trees, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Steve Lewis.

Officials worked for about 15 minutes to free Forker from his vehicle, and a LifeStar air ambulance flew him to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.

The accident site is north of Vinland and south of Cedar Hill Gun Club. Forker's vehicle carried no other passengers. His condition was not immediately available.

You mean Douglas County Sheriff Sgt. Steve Lewis, not Lawrence police dept.

LocalYocal, Thanks for the catch, it's been updated.

OonlyBonly, As of noon, we haven't heard anything on condition. We'll keep calling and post something as soon as we have anything.

One can't be north of Vinland and south of the Gun Club at the same time.

Lenette Hamm 4 years ago

Actually, one can. This location is about 1/2-3/4 mile SOUTH of the gun club and a coupla miles NORTH of Vinland. Hope the driver is ok.

You need to learn your local geography or how to read maps better!

Obviously the Gun Club isn't in the "town" of Vinland. Wishing Mr Forker all the best. Prayers go out to him.
