Firefighters extinguish blaze at Meadowbrook Apartments
No one will be displaced
Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical crews extinguished a fire reported Friday afternoon on the second floor of a building at the Meadowbrook Apartments complex.
Firefighters said no one will be displaced, and investigators Friday afternoon were trying to determine a cause and damage estimate for the fire at 1424 Bristol Terrace.
A fire was reported at 12:22 p.m. at the part of the complex northeast of Bob Billings Parkway and Crestline Drive, Division Chief Eve Tolefree said.
“Initial crews reported exterior smoke showing from a three-story apartment building with smoke extension into the hallway,” Tolefree said.
Crews had it under control at 12:34 p.m. No one was injured.
Division Chief Joe Hoelscher said that as part of the preliminary investigation, firefighters believed the exterior siding of the apartment caught fire.
