One passenger involved in a Wednesday head-on collision on U.S. Highway 56 in southwestern Douglas County remained in serious condition Friday.

Alice Beatty, 51, of Independence, Mo., was in serious condition at KU Hospital, a spokesman said. Though Jamie Ullery, 47, of Overbrook, was listed in serious condition on Thursday at the hospital, the spokesman could not confirm or deny she was a patient at the hospital Friday.

Joann O’Brien, a 76-year-old Overbrook woman who was driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash, remained in fair condition Friday at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.

Two children involved in the crash, Caleb Othick, 12, and Kara Othick, 10, both of Baldwin City, were both taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. A hospital spokeswoman said both children were no longer listed as patients there.
