Douglas County Sheriff’s officers apprehended a man with outstanding warrants who ran from them Wednesday afternoon near U.S. Highway 24-40 northeast of Lawrence.

Sgt. Steve Lewis, a sheriff’s spokesman, said managers around 3:30 p.m. at Paradise Saloon called officers about a suspicious person in the parking lot. The man ran from officers once they arrived, and they later apprehended him in a creek bed, Lewis said. Kansas Highway Patrol troopers also assisted.
