— The Kansas Board of Regents on Wednesday approved a proposal by Kansas University to expand the Metro KC Tuition Waiver on the Edwards Campus in Overland Park.

Under the measure, starting next fall students in an 11-county area in Missouri will pay the same per credit hour rate that Kansas students pay on the Edwards Campus.

Currently, the tuition break applies to students from only four counties, and undergraduates from Missouri get a discounted rate but still pay more than Kansas residents.

The 11 counties are Clay, Cass, Jackson, Platte, Buchanan, Clinton, Ray, Lafayette, Johnson, Henry and Bates.

Aren't Missourians illegals? Oh that's right, they too qualify for reduced tuition.

This is a very wise policy. Higher education is poorly respected in Missouri. But, if the admission standards are not strong, KU will be overrun with poor performing students.
