A 32-year-old Perry woman was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Monday morning after she was injured in an accident on a snowy Kansas Highway 10.

Sgt. Steve Lewis, a Douglas County Sheriff’s spokesman, said Angela M. Herman spun out in her westbound 2003 Ford Expedition at 6:15 a.m. and crashed into a bridge pillar at East 2100 Road on the west side of Eudora.

Lewis said officers indicated Herman was not wearing a seat belt. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, he said.

Officers throughout Douglas County also assisted several motorists who had slid off roads or highways in Monday morning’s snow, Lewis said.

I sure hope it wasn't a case of thinking just because she's in an SUV, possibly 4 wheel or all wheel drive, that she was bullet proof. You still spin out and can't stop any better than in anything else. Glad she wasn't seriously hurt, I suspect it could have been a lot worse.

To lessen the price of new vehicles, there ought to be a "seat belt" option. By not installing the belts in cars that the drivers are not going to use them anyway, might contribute saved dollars to a fund to rehabilitate their injuries due to not using the belts.

Funny a person who's user name is ''cheeseburger'' is calling somebody a ''supreme idiot''. Instead of judging somebody you don't know why don't you take a class on compassion. Everybody makes mistakes and hopefully when you make yours you have a bunch of people laughing in your face! What a pig you must be! Thank god that she is alright and I know she will be wearing that damn seatbelt for now on.
