A 7-year-old Olathe girl was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., after a one-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in southeastern Douglas County.
Sgt. Steve Lewis, a Douglas County Sheriff’s spokesman, said the girl’s injuries were not life-threatening. Her mother, Kristina Turnley, 28, was driving a southbound Nissan Altima on Kansas Highway 33, which is East 2300 Road.
The car drifted off the west side of the road when she over-corrected, causing the vehicle to cross the road, spin around and strike the ditch east of the road, Lewis said. The crash occurred about 1:10 p.m. about one mile north of the Franklin County line.
