Emergency crews were able to contain a house fire at 208 East 1600 Road, just southwest of Baldwin City, in about a half-hour, said Randy DeMersseman, chief of the Palmyra Township Fire Department.
Crews were called to the house about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. No one was hurt in the fire, which started in a chimney flue, DeMersseman said. The house sustained between $10,000 and $20,000 worth of damage on the first and second floors, he said.
One cat was missing after the fire, he said.
