Lawrence police received reports of gunshots Wednesday evening near Second and Michigan streets at the Michigan Way Apartments, though no suspects or victims have been found.

Police were called to 1311 Michigan Way at about 5:45 p.m. by witnesses who reported hearing and seeing several shots fired from one car into another. No injuries were reported.

Sgt. Dave Hubbel said Wednesday night that police had interviewed the witnesses, who described a “light-colored car” as the one that was shot into, but had no description for a second car involved. No glass was found at the scene, but crews remained in the area investigating, he said.

Initial reports had police searching for a dark-colored SUV in connection with the shooting, but Hubbel said this was determined to belong to a non-suspect area resident.

About two blocks from my house. That's an unpleasant thought - my wife drives down this street daily with our two small children in the car.

Did someone get their order wrong at the drive-thru drug house? Maybe someone was impatient in the line of cars waiting in the trailer park. Better build a bigger fence Northwinds to keep out the riff-raff. Glad no one was harmed.
