The Jackson County (Kan.) Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a man charged with rape and other crimes who might be in the Lawrence area.
Sheriff Tim Morse said Tuesday that Clinton Lee McKinney is wanted after he was charged in a Jackson County District Court warrant with two counts of rape, one count of kidnapping, one count of aggravated assault and one count of domestic battery in connection with two incidents that occurred July 26 and July 28 in Jackson County.
Morse said officers believed McKinney was either in the Mayetta, Topeka or Lawrence areas. Matt Cahill, a senior inspector with the U.S. Marshals Service, confirmed officers with the agency were in Lawrence on Monday looking for McKinney, but he referred further questions to Morse.
Sheriff’s officers described McKinney as an American Indian, 5-foot-11, 200 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Morse asked anyone with information on McKinney’s whereabouts to call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, 785-364-2251.
