Gift to fund scholarships for KU law school

A Kansas University alumnus and his wife have donated $800,000 to the KU School of Law to provide scholarship support.

David and Debbi Elkouri, who have homes in Wichita and Houston, will provide $500,000 for the Elkouri Family Scholarship Fund through KU Endowment and $300,000 in additional scholarship support to be distributed over the next 12 years.

David Elkouri earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from KU in 1975 and added a KU law degree in 1978, and his wife says she has become an “adopted Jayhawk” after graduating from the University of Oklahoma.

The couple’s three children — Justin, Jessica and Juliana — earned bachelor’s degrees at KU, and Justin also earned a KU law degree.
