Ottawa man pleads no contest in Lawrence robbery

A 22-year-old Ottawa man pleaded no contest Thursday in connection with a January robbery at a Lawrence apartment.

Dominique Rashad Burnett entered the pleas to two counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery. Prosecutors said Burnett and his co-defendants participated in the Jan. 10 robbery of several items, including marijuana, from an apartment in the 1700 block of West 19th Street.

One co-defendant, Colby Blaine Simon, 19, Ottawa, has a September trial scheduled in the case, and another, Dallas Jay Ambler, 23, pleaded guilty in July to two counts of robbery. Ambler’s sentencing is Oct. 1.

District Judge Kay Huff is scheduled to sentence Burnett on Sept. 28. He remains in jail.
