Police were looking for a suspect after residents reported hearing and seeing someone fire several shots from one car into another the evening of Feb. 8 outside an apartment in the 1300 block of Michigan Way, near Second and Michigan streets.
Benimon also was arrested on a Lawrence Municipal Court traffic warrant and a warrant in a 2003 Wyandotte County case, according to jail records. According to the Kansas Department of Corrections, Benimon has two 2007 drug possession convictions in Douglas County and a 2001 Wyandotte County conviction for aggravated indecent solicitation.
