Officers await results of autopsy from crash

Jefferson County Sheriff’s officers are awaiting autopsy results hoping they will learn more about a motorcycle accident that killed an Oskaloosa man last week.

According to an accident report, Gregory Rankin, 63, was found Friday morning several hours after the motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 59 south of Oskaloosa. Sheriff’s officers don’t know the exact time of the crash, other than it occurred in the early-morning hours.

Rankin was headed south on the highway in a 1982 Honda motorcycle. He went off the road into the right ditch. Rankin died from his injuries. According to the report, he was not wearing a helmet.
