Lawrence High baseball loses, 6-4, to hot-hitting Rockhurst

? Lawrence High’s baseball team yielded five runs in the first three innings Saturday and fell to Rockhurst, 6-4.

Rockhurst scored twice in the first, then LHS tied it at 2 in the second. But Rockhust took the lead for good with a run in the bottom of the second and went ahead 5-2 with two runs in the third.

“It was a very well-played high school baseball game,” LHS coach Brad Stoll said. “Both teams hit the ball hard. They swung the bats well. I thought we swung the bats well.”

Shane Willoughby, Troy Willoughby and Matt Sutliffe each drove in runs for the Lions.

Starter Cameron Solko pitched five innings and took the loss.

“I’m obviously disappointed we lost,” Stoll said, “but we’re going in the right direction, no doubt.”

The Lions (9-7) will travel to Olathe East on Tuesday.
