Douglas County prosecutors Thursday filed rape, domestic battery and aggravated burglary charges against a 36-year-old Lawrence man in connection with an incident early Wednesday.

In court records, prosecutors accuse the man of raping a 30-year-old woman, an acquaintance, and overcoming her “by force or fear.” He’s also accused of entering the residence without her permission.

Police arrested him Wednesday evening, and he appeared before a judge Thursday afternoon where his bond was set at $75,000. His next hearing is scheduled for Monday.

According to jail records, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers placed a hold on the man while he’s in jail.
