Anybody knows what happened...that looks like a close score for that team. LHS people?

Thanks for the link! From the article it looks like the two games I watched: one shot on goal.

Washburn has a high-powered offense, they most have hammered the defense. Good job holding them to only two goals.

I was there. The score doesn't reflect it but Washburn Rural controlled it from start to finish. Was extremely lopsided match.

Thanks. So how did they keep the score the so "close?" Depsite the quote in the CJ article...I don't think the LHS goalie could have made that many good saves.

The Rural players had trouble finishing but that doesn't truly represent how outmatched LHS was. The ball spent way more time in LHS's box then it was even on Rural's side of the field. Rural should have had several more goals (Easily could have been 4/5 goals instead of 2)... either way... it was not a fun match to watch. There was very little skill displayed by LHS players. They basically would just kick the ball forward any time it got within reach.

Washburn Rural kept the ball on the LHS side of the field most of the game. This led to many shots on goal, corner kicks, and offsides calls. Of course this also led to many saves...I quit counting at 15 in the first half. The defenders blocked and deflected many more than that, leading to a score of only 1-0 at half.

The second goal was scored about 6 minutes into the 2nd half on a breakway. After a couple near misses, the team regrouped and held them for the rest of the game. They will return 7 starters next season, but only two on defense.
