Douglas County Commission to consider industrial expansion

Douglas County commissioners will consider today a site plan for the construction of a 24,000-square-foot industrial building east of town near North 1700 and East 1700 roads. The building would serve as an extension to the McFarlane Aviation Products facilities.

Commissioners will also consider a project agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation concerning funding for Route 438 improvements. The currently proposed improvements include extending turn lanes and applying new pavement markings to existing asphalt in association with the Berry Plastics facility. Under the agreement, KDOT would reimburse Douglas County for 85 percent of all construction costs not in excess of $300,000.

The 6:35 p.m. commission meeting is open to the public and will be at the Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Mass.
