Events, ceremonies to honor KU graduates

Kansas University has a wide array of events and ceremonies associated with commencement this week, leading up to the university’s main ceremony Sunday.

The 139th KU commencement ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, as graduates begin their traditional march through the Campanile and down the hill to Memorial Stadium.

Today

6 p.m., Hyatt Regency Crown Center, 2345 McGee St., Kansas City, Mo. Dinner for School of Medicine graduates.

Friday

1 p.m., Lied Center. School of Social Welfare recognition for bachelor’s of social welfare candidates.

1 p.m., Kansas Union, Woodruff Auditorium. Recognition ceremony for graduating international students. Reception follows in the Jayhawk Room.

3:30 p.m., Kansas Union, Woodruff Auditorium. Department of communication studies undergraduate recognition ceremony. Reception follows in the Big 12 Room.

3:30 p.m., Lied Center. School of Social Welfare hooding for master’s of social work candidates.

4 p.m., Kansas Union, Kansas Room. Department of sociology undergraduate recognition ceremony. Reception follows in the Malott Room.

4 p.m., Crafton-Preyer Theatre, Murphy Hall. Department of psychology undergraduate recognition ceremony.

6 p.m., Kansas Union, English Room. Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies program and Queers and Allies Lavender Graduation.

6 p.m., Lied Center. School of Business master’s degree hooding and doctoral recognition ceremony.

6 p.m., Kansas Union, Woodruff Auditorium. Department of political science recognition ceremony. Reception follows in the Big 12 Room.

6:30 p.m., Crafton-Preyer Theatre, Murphy Hall. School of the Arts graduation recognition ceremony for undergraduate and graduate students.

8:30 p.m., Lied Center. School of Business undergraduate recognition ceremony.

Saturday

8 a.m., Kansas Union, Kansas Room. Reception for chancellor’s student award recipients.

8:30 a.m., Lied Center. School of Journalism graduate recognition and master’s degree hooding ceremony. Reception to follow on the lawn of Stauffer-Flint Hall.

9 a.m., Allen Fieldhouse. School of Engineering recognition and awards ceremony. A reception will follow.

9 a.m., Memorial Hall, 600 N. Seventh St., Kansas City, Kan. School of Allied Health recognition ceremony.

10:30 a.m., Lied Center. School of Education convocation. Tickets required.

10:30 a.m., Crafton-Preyer Theatre, Murphy Hall. School of Music graduation ceremony.

11 a.m., Kansas Union, Woodruff Auditorium. Phi Beta Kappa initiation. Reception to follow in the Big 12 Room.

11 a.m., Bailey Hall, Room 318. Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies graduation reception for master’s candidates.

11:30 a.m., Memorial Hall, 600 N. Seventh St., Kansas City, Kan. School of Nursing recognition ceremony.

11:30 a.m., Kansas Union, Ballroom. Department of electrical engineering and computer science recognition ceremony.

1 p.m., Blake Hall, Room 114. Department of linguistics commencement reception.

3 p.m., Kansas Union, Woodruff Auditorium. Department of applied behavioral science undergraduate recognition ceremony. Reception follows in the Big 12 Room.

3 p.m., Snow Hall. Room 120. Department of math graduation celebration.

3:30 p.m., Crafton-Preyer Theatre, Murphy Hall. School of Architecture, Design and Planning recognition ceremony.

4 p.m., ECM Center, 1204 Oread Ave. Environmental studies program graduate recognition and honors reception.

4 p.m., Lied Center. Doctoral hooding ceremony.

5 p.m., Kansas Union, Kansas Room. Office of Multicultural Affairs 35th annual Graduation Stole Ceremony and Banquet.

6 p.m., Crafton-Preyer Theatre, Murphy Hall. University Honors Program recognition ceremony.

6 p.m., Kansas Union. Ballroom. Multicultural Scholars Programs graduation banquet.

7 p.m., Lied Center. School of Medicine hooding and awards ceremony. Tickets required.

7 p.m., Budig Hall. Room 120. Undergraduate biology recognition ceremony.

Sunday

8 a.m., Lied Center. College of Liberal Arts and Sciences master’s hooding and recognition ceremony for students graduating with highest distinction or distinction.

8 a.m., Adams Alumni Center. KU Alumni Association Open House.

8:30-10 a.m., Kansas Union, Ballroom. Commencement open house. Complimentary coffee, tea, juice and pastries for graduates and guests.

10:30 a.m., Memorial Stadium. Commencement

Monday, May 23

8 a.m., Kansas Union, Alderson Auditorium. Air Force ROTC commissioning.

10 a.m., Kansas Union. Ballroom. Joint service commissioning ceremony.
