Law enforcement sweep finds 49 Wichita sex offenders violated program

? A recent check on registered sex offenders in the Wichita area found 49 offenders had violated terms of their program.

The Wichita Eagle reported that some of the offenders had moved and did not report their new addresses. Others had never lived at the given address or had given an address that did not exist.

The verification sweep Wednesday was made at the homes of 336 registered offenders in the Wichita area. Eighteen Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputies, 11 Wichita police officers and one U.S. Marshal conducted the sweep.

Authorities said the offenders who violated compliance terms may face criminal charges.
