Tyrel Reed named Capital One first-team academic All-American

Kansas senior guard Tyrel Reed has been selected as one of five players on the Capital One All-America first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
Reed, a pre-physical therapy and exercise science major with a 3.65 GPA, is the third-leading scorer for KU this season, averaging 10 points.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
