Lawrence man in ‘serious’ condition after Sunday afternoon accident on K-32

The Kansas Highway Patrol has identified a 40-year-old Lawrence man as the person who was injured Sunday afternoon in an accident about 3 miles northeast of Lawrence.

According to an accident report, Anthony J. Sutton was taken to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., after his truck rolled over in a ditch about 3:15 p.m. on Kansas Highway 32 in Leavenworth County. He was in serious condition Monday afternoon in the intensive care unit, according to hospital officials.

The report says Sutton was headed west in his 2001 Dodge Ram truck when he drove into the north ditch to avoid striking another vehicle. The report provided no information about that vehicle.

As Sutton attempted to steer out of the ditch, the truck came back across the highway and went into the south ditch before it struck a fence and rolled onto its top.
