DeAndre Daniels talks about recruiting rumors

DeAndre Daniels, a 6-8 senior from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., who committed to UConn on Tuesday, told Zagsblog.com he considered enrolling at Kansas University or Texas second semester of the past school year.

“I was considering those schools, but I guess everybody was just talking about I’m going to end up going there and I’m going there,” Daniels said. “I was never talking so everybody was just making up rumors. But I was considering those schools.”

Asked about rumors that he preferred Texas and his father liked Kansas, Daniels said: “It wasn’t true.”

He said he had never been on the UConn campus, but his parents visited there recently. He said he likely would stay at UConn two seasons and coach Jim Calhoun told him he would be staying at the school, not retiring.
