County Commission approves rezoning requests

County commissioners approved several rezoning requests at their meetings Wednesday evening.

Among the requests approved were an assignment for 32 unused acres of land acquired by Berry Plastics to be returned to agricultural classification as well as a request to turn about six acres of land in the 700 section of U.S. Highway 40 to general business zoning. The requests were approved with little public comment.

Commissioners Wednesday also spent 45 minutes in an executive session discussing possible acquisition of land by the county. The meeting was once again in regard to the consolidation of public works facilities. The same topic was discussed in executive session May 18. There is still no timeline for a decision on which site may be purchased and no action was taken on the matter.
