Kansas may be in the running for Andre Walker, a 6-7, 220-pound power forward, who has graduated from Vanderbilt University and decided to play at another school his senior season.

The former Brewster Academy player from Flossmoor, Ill., this week will set up some campus visits, according to a Twitter post from a Brewster coach. The tweet says Walker is considering KU, Northwestern, Xavier and Wichita State.

Walker averaged 3.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists while logging 17.7 minutes a game for Vandy his junior season. He red-shirted the 2008-09 season after tearing his right ACL and has had some injury problems since. He has one year of eligibility remaining. He does not have to sit out a year after transferring, since he’s already graduated.

KU is still hopeful of landing prize prospect DeAndre Daniels, a 6-8 senior forward from IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla. Daniels, who has been silent through most of the recruiting process, has a list of KU, Texas, Oregon, San Diego State and Oklahoma State. UConn also has been trying to get in the mix.

Ouch, and I thought KU was already scraping the bottom of the barrel with Traylor and Anderson.

Daniels is not prize. Something wrong with his recruitment. Smells like big time trouble.

Daniels is clearly who they want, but he's looking for the situation that will position him best for the NBA draft for the following year. That's pretty much the case with all of the top players, so like it or not, all top programs have to go after those players to be competitive year in and year out.

But if they don't get him, they need someone who can help out with a thin front line. Walker's got experience and size, and if they can get 5-10 minutes a game out of him, it might make a big difference in how far next year's team goes.

Never underestimate what a lil time with Danny Manning can do! This guy may have subpar averages with Vandy, but let Manning show him some footwork skills, some post d, and this kid could easily be an 8, 8, and 4 a game in no time!

Never underestimate coach Bill Self, either!
