Garfield, Ark. ? Authorities say a 19-year-old Kansan disappeared after jumping from a boat into Beaver Lake in northwestern Arkansas.

Searchers spent Saturday afternoon and Sunday looking for the missing Pittsburg State University student. Benton County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dale Denver said the man’s name is not being released at the request of his family.

Denver said the man was on the boat with friends Saturday afternoon when he said he was going to cool off and jumped into the lake. He never resurfaced.

Denver says the lake is 80 to 100 feet deep in the area where the man disappeared.
