Westbound I-70 reopens east of Lawrence following accident on Kansas Turnpike

The westbound lanes of the Kansas Turnpike were closed following a six-car accident at mile post 205 near the Leavenworth County line just after 2:15 p.m. Friday.

In all, four people were transported to a hospital because of injuries sustained in the crash — including Emily Kay Smith, a 19-year-old from Brookville; and Martha Dixon, 62, Jacqueline Vigola, 79, and Maureen Krumins, 65, all of Topeka.

The highway reopened just before 4 p.m.

None of the injuries were initially believed to be serious.
