Lawrence man faces misdemeanor battery charge after fight near 10th and New Hampshire

A 40-year-old Lawrence man faces a misdemeanor battery charge after a 29-year-old Lawrence man alleged he was stabbed in the face with a stick during an altercation Monday evening near 10th and New Hampshire streets.

Sgt. Matt Sarna, a Lawrence police spokesman, said the victim had a laceration to his face but did not require medical attention. Prosecutors Tuesday charged the suspect, Charles Rayton, with battery, and a judge set his bond at $500.
