Kansas University sophomore Travis Releford’s windmill dunk against UMKC on Jan. 5 has been selected as a 2011 Dunk of the Year nominee in a contest run by company Intersport on Facebook.

The 2011 Dunk of the Year is chosen completely by fan voting and will be announced on an hour-long ABC TV special on April 2.

The voting works like this: Each week for eight weeks, four college dunks are released at the “Dunk of the Year” fan page on Facebook.

The top weekly vote-receivers advance to the finals starting on March 7 and are highlighted in the ABC TV special.

Fans can vote once a day for Releford this week. Voting ends Sunday at 10:59 p.m. central time.
