Armed robbery suspects still at large

Lawrence police were called to a residential armed robbery at the Reserve apartments, near 31st and Iowa streets, just before 11 p.m. Monday.

Sgt. Damon Thomas said four people were in an apartment, two residents and two visitors who were both 17-year-old Topeka residents, when two suspects came and robbed the two visitors with a handgun. No shots were fired.

The two suspects then left in a vehicle, which police later located near 31st and Louisiana streets. The suspects stopped their car in the area of Mary’s Lake, where police gave chase on foot. They did not apprehend either suspect, and both are still at large.

Thomas said police had recovered the handgun believed to be used, as well as a backpack and other items believed to have been stolen.

Capt. Paul Fellers said Tuesday afternoon that the investigation continues.

Police have asked anyone with information in the case to call Douglas County Crime Stoppers at 785-843-TIPS (8477).
