Okla. man treated and released from LMH after accident on U.S. 59
A Tulsa, Okla., man was injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday evening south of Lawrence on U.S. Highway 59.
Sgt. Steve Lewis, a Douglas County Sheriff’s spokesman, said Daniel Mailath, 33, of Tulsa, was injured when his 2000 Lexus struck the back of a vehicle driven by Bradley Howard, 46, of Lawrence. The crash occurred at 6:35 p.m. Thursday near the intersection with North 400 Road.
Howard had stopped his northbound vehicle as he was waiting for another vehicle to turn west onto North 400 Road. Mailath was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and later released, an LMH spokeswoman said. Howard was not injured.
Lewis said officers believed Mailath’s inattention contributed to the crash, but the accident report was not yet complete Friday.
