Jake Heaps, the No. 1-ranked pro-style quarterback in Rivals.com’s class of 2010, will visit Kansas University this weekend, Jayhawkslant.com is reporting.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound quarterback from Issaquah, Wash., spent the last two seasons at BYU before requesting a transfer. He will have to sit out a year if he transfers to another FBS school.

Out of high school, Heaps was pursued by Notre Dame, which at the time was led by current KU coach Charlie Weis.

If Charlie can land Dayne Crist to play 2011-12, then Heaps to play the next two seasons, that would be impressive.

Powlus and Ianello know Heap well from when Charlie recruited him at ND. With these two in place, recruiting for some QB help will not let down when CW has his hip operated on next week. Still can't wait til a DC is named. If not done soon, it likely means #1 candidate is still involved with a bowl game.

Shamrock chalk Jayhawks.
