Defensive lineman Keon Stowers commits to KU

Keon Stowers, a a 6-foot-3, 273-pound defensive tackle out of Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga., committed to the Kansas football team on Thursday night.

Stowers chose KU over Indiana, Louisville and others. He committed after an in-home visit Thursday with KU coach Charlie Weis and assistant coach Reggie Mitchell.

“It maybe took two minutes before I realized this is the guy (Weis) I want to play for,” Stowers told JayhawkSlant.com. “We talked a lot about character and education before he mentioned football. We talked about the coaches that mentored him like (Bill) Parcells and (Bill) Belichick. Those are coaches off the charts. I think KU is a good situation and I want to be a part of it.”

On Wednesday, Weis picked up his first commitment from Bishop Miege receiver Tre Parmalee.
