Kansas City, Mo. — Things couldn’t have gone much better for Lawrence High’s girls basketball team in its season opener Friday night.
The Lions destroyed Kansas City Wyandotte, 68-22.
LHS coach Nick Wood, who started four juniors and a freshman, was pleased that a team with very little varsity experience could play so well.
Junior forwards Bri Anderson (15 points) and Monica Howard (10) led Lawrence. They started, along with fellow juniors Kylie Seaman and Emma Kelly and freshman Marissa Pope.
Lawrence (1-0) has its home opener against Junction City at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
