Lawrence man, 47, accused of hitting ex-girlfriend with glass during bar fight
Lawrence police Tuesday night arrested a 47-year-old Lawrence man who was accused of injuring his ex-girlfriend in a fight last weekend at a bar.
Sgt. Matt Sarna, a police spokesman, said the man was accused of striking the 41-year-old Lawrence woman in the face with a glass about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, as she was leaving Cross Town Tavern, 1910 Haskell Ave. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries, Sarna said. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery, and Cheryl Wright, a spokeswoman for the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, said prosecutors likely wouldn’t make a decision about filing formal charges until Thursday.
The Journal-World generally does not identify suspects unless they are formally charged.
