Lawrence police arrested a 55-year-old Lawrence man Thursday afternoon after he was accused of inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl earlier this year.

Sgt. Matt Sarna, a police spokesman, said officers were called about the incident Tuesday, and it was alleged that the man inappropriately touched the girl between April and June at a location in south central Lawrence. The suspect knew the victim, police said.

Police interviewed the man and arrested him Thursday evening on suspicion of indecent liberties with a child. Douglas County prosecutors Friday afternoon filed one count of indecent liberties with a child by lewd fondling or touching, according to court records.

He is expected to appear in court Friday afternoon. Sarna said the child did not have any physical injuries.
