Wichita businessmen buy Wichita Thunder hockey team

? Three Wichita brothers are the new owners of the Wichita Thunder hockey team.

The purchase of the Central Hockey League team by Wichita businessmen Rodney, Brandon and Johnny Steven was announced Tuesday. The price was not disclosed.

The Stevens bought the team from Chicago businessman Horn Chen.

The Wichita Eagle reports that brothers co-own Genesis Health Clubs and Brandon Steven Motors. Genesis operates the city-owned Wichita Ice Center, where the Thunder plays exhibition games and sometimes practices.

Rodney Steven said that the brothers wanted to buy the team to prevent an out-of-state owner from moving it to another state.

The Thunder’s season begins in October.
