Children find body near Kansas City school

? A homicide victim whose body was found near a school in Kansas City, Kan., has been identified as a 16-year-old boy.

The body of Kansas City, Kan., resident Ryder Spillman was discovered Sunday by children playing near the kindergarten classroom at Thomas A. Edison Elementary School.

Police said Monday that one person has been arrested, and charges are pending. No other details about the killing have been released.

Neighbors told The Kansas City Star they heard four or five shots about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Police were called but found nothing. The children discovered the body about 12 hours later.
