Ex-KU alumni center director to lead Club Managers Association of America

A former director of Kansas University’s Adams Alumni Center is in line to become president of a professional association for managers of membership clubs.

Kevin Carroll, who served as director of the Adams Alumni Center from 1983 to 1991, is set to lead the Club Managers Association of America.

Since leaving the directorship of the Adams Alumni Center, Carroll has served in management capacities at the University Club in St. Louis, Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis and Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, Kan.

Since 2004, he has been serving as the general manager and chief operating officer of the Loxahatchee Club in Jupiter, Fla. He is currently serving as the CMAA’s vice president.

The CMAA’s manager members run more than 3,000 country, golf, city, athletic, faculty, yacht, town and military clubs.

While in Lawrence, Carroll was managing the Adams Alumni Center during its beginnings.

“We served as the front door for the university,” Carroll said, remembering how the center would host banquets for incoming dignitaries at KU.

Although he didn’t graduate from KU, he said he felt like his eight years at the Alumni Association served as a sort of KU education in its own right.

“My wife and I, we’re still Jayhawk fans through and through,” he said.
