21-year-old man arrested after reported knife incident, fight at Lawrence apartment
Lawrence police have arrested a 21-year-old man after a Thursday fight inside an apartment in the 1400 block of Ohio Street.
Sgt. Matt Sarna, a police spokesman, said residents of the apartment called police at 3 a.m. Thursday after a disturbance.
Witnesses told police several people were inside for a gathering when one of the male visitors was asked to leave after an argument.
The suspect, a 21-year-old Lawrence man, then returned with a knife in his hand, and a fight broke out between the man and a 19-year-old man. Sarna said at some point the knife was put away and that it became a physical altercation.
The suspect was eventually pushed out of the apartment, and someone called police. Officers talked to the suspect on the scene. He was later arrested on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated burglary.
The suspect received medical attention for minor injuries on his face, and he was taken to the Douglas County Jail. No other injuries were reported.
The Journal-World generally does not name suspects unless they are officially charged.
