Lawrence man arrested for DUI, reckless driving after crashing truck into fence

Lawrence police arrested a 22-year-old Lawrence man on DUI and reckless driving charges after a pickup truck rolled over early Wednesday morning and ended up in the back yard in the 800 block of Arkansas Street.

Sgt. Matt Sarna, a police spokesman, said the driver lost control at 1:35 a.m. as the truck spun out and struck the curb causing it to roll through a privacy fence behind the 800 block of Michigan Street and came to rest against a garage.

He was taken to the Douglas County Jail. A 24-year-old passenger complained of pain in his ribs, but declined medical attention, Sarna said.

The driver, 22-year-old Justin Michael Andra, was cited to appear on the charges in municipal court.
