Local residents looking for a hand around the house this fall can hire help that will in turn help other people move into affordable housing.
Once again, Kansas University’s Habitat for Humanity campus chapter will be offering Hire-A-Habitat, a fundraising event that sends students out into the community to do odd jobs around Lawrence.
The volunteers will be available Saturday and Nov. 13. Suggested donations for a Hire-A-Habitat helper is $25 an hour per person. The students can help rake leaves, clean homes and do yard work. The fund will go toward supporting affordable housing efforts in Lawrence.
Last year, the organization raised more than $4,000 through the program.
