— A national business group is backing the Republican candidate in Kansas' 1st Congressional District, while a teachers' union supports his Democratic opponent.

GOP nominee and state Sen. Tim Huelskamp, of Fowler, is pointing to his backing from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as evidence of his anti-tax credentials.

Meanwhile, Democrat and former Salina Mayor Alan Jilka has the endorsement of the Kansas-National Education Association, the state's largest teachers' union.

They're seeking the U.S. House seat now held by Republican Jerry Moran, who's running for Senate.

Do you receive social security or are you willing to give up yours?

Jilka thinks that Social Security is solvent and no reform is necessary. That is what he told me at the state fair... I'm thinking he is not quite ready for prime time???? We need a conservative in there who can say no to all the runaway spending.
