1st Congressional District candidates tout rival endorsements

? A national business group is backing the Republican candidate in Kansas’ 1st Congressional District, while a teachers’ union supports his Democratic opponent.

GOP nominee and state Sen. Tim Huelskamp, of Fowler, is pointing to his backing from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as evidence of his anti-tax credentials.

Meanwhile, Democrat and former Salina Mayor Alan Jilka has the endorsement of the Kansas-National Education Association, the state’s largest teachers’ union.

They’re seeking the U.S. House seat now held by Republican Jerry Moran, who’s running for Senate.
