Baby safe after carjack attempt in Kansas City
Kansas City, Mo. ? Police in Kansas City say a young couple moving to Missouri from Colorado thwarted a man’s attempt to steal their car with their 6-month-old baby inside.
The Kansas City Star reported that the couple pulled into a Kansas City gas station Monday night to talk with friends driving rented moving trucks. The couple left the car running and were standing a few yards away when they saw a man climb in and back out of the parking space.
Police say the 24-year-old mother ran toward the car and smashed the passenger window with her elbow. The 22-year-old father jumped into the car through the broken window and started kicking the man in the head.
The would-be carjacker jumped out of the car and ran.
The parents suffered minor injuries. The baby was covered in broken glass but not hurt.
A police dog was brought in and tried without success to track the suspect.
