Child released from hospital after wreck
A child was released from a Topeka hospital Thursday after being treated for injuries after a Wednesday wreck that killed two Olathe residents on the Kansas Turnpike between Topeka and Lawrence.
Myra Reyes, 25, rolled her Ford Explorer at 3:30 p.m. after her right rear tire blew near mile marker 187, according to the Kansas Turnpike Authority’s accident report. Reyes was taken to a hospital but later died from her injuries.
Ricardo Lopez, 33, was in the passenger seat. He died at the scene.
Also in the vehicle were Reyes’ four children: America, 10, Juan, 8, Jennifer, 6, and Kevin Hernandez-Reyes, 2.
The children suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. Three were treated and released on Wednesday, and Juan was kept overnight and released Thursday from Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
