Driver in fair condition after five-vehicle double fatality

A driver involved in a five-vehicle accident Saturday that claimed the lives of two Nortonville women was listed in fair condition Monday at Kansas University Hospital.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said that David Cluck, 46, of Troy, was driving his Chevrolet truck southbound on 222nd St, when he failed to stop at a stop sign, striking a vehicle that was heading east on Kansas Highway 32 just west of Linwood.

Two of the three passengers in Cluck’s vehicle were killed when they were ejected from the truck.

The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the victims as 66-year-old Barbara Helton and 45-year-old Patricia Helton, both of Nortonville.

The third passenger in the truck, Jeannette Cluck, 44, was listed in fair condition Monday at KU Hospital.

Following the initial impact, Cluck’s vehicle went on to strike a 1995 Toyota SUV carrying three people, a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with two riders and a 2006 Chevrolet coupe driven by an Ohio man.
