Topeka ? Lawrence High extended its softball season with a 3-1 victory over Topeka High in its Class 6A regional on Friday, but it came to an abrupt halt with a 10-0, run-rule-shortened loss to top-seeded Washburn Rural on Friday night.

Rural (22-0) jumped to a 9-0 lead in the first inning and banged out 14 hits while limiting LHS (9-13) to just five.

In the semifinal, LHS had nine hits, and the Lions’ Lauren Massey allowed just one run off five hits.
