Two K.C. workers critically injured by hot asphalt, taken to KU Hospital burn unit
Kansas City, Kan. ? Two Owens Corning employees were critically injured Wednesday morning when they were hit with hot asphalt at a Kansas City, Kan., plant.
Assistant Kansas City, Kan., fire chief Craig Duke says hot asphalt was being transferred from a tanker truck into a storage tank at 8 a.m. when the equipment malfunctioned.
That caused asphalt — which was between 350 and 480 degrees — to spray the two workers. Duke says both were taken in critical condition to The University of Kansas Hospital burn unit.
There was no immediate word on their condition.
