Lawrence man transported to hospital for puncture wound

A 21-year-old Lawrence man was transported to the hospital today after sustaining an injury during a fight.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Ted Bordman, police saw what appeared to be a fight involving three men at Ninth and Kentucky streets early Saturday morning. Officers separated two of the men, and after doing so realized that one, a 21-year-old Lawrence man, had a puncture wound. The man, a KU student, was transported to the hospital via ambulance. Another 21-year-old man with him went to the hospital for lacerations to his lip.

Officers believe the two 21-year-olds were walking and encountered a 25-year-old Lawrence man. A fight ensued, and police believe the 25-year-old stabbed the 21-year-old.

The older man was arrested for aggravated battery.
